Model UN
What is Model UN?
Model UN is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and its other multilateral bodies where students perform a UN-related role while debating topics such as gender equality, climate action, global health, and more.
UNAGP hosts Model UN initiatives by focusing on organizing small conferences, led by UNA-GP members, college and university students, where students are invited to become prospective members of NGOs that are registered with the United Nations.

The UNAGP’s Model UN Approach
Our Alternative Model UN (A-MUN) program gives students a hands-on way to explore global issues by representing real NGOs instead of countries. Rather than simulating political decision-making, students engage in the kind of practical, technical, and advocacy-driven work that non-governmental organizations carry out at the United Nations every day. Unlike the standard Model UN—where students role-play diplomats—A-MUN asks students to step into the shoes of NGOs that shape UN policy from the ground up.
Alternative Model UN
Our A-MUN program brings high school students into the real world of international advocacy by having them represent NGOs rather than countries. Students prepare, debate, and—when possible—turn their outcomes into real action
Why A-MUN?
Students gain hands-on experience representing real NGOs and learning how international advocacy actually works—policy writing, consensus-building, and implementation.

Real-world NGO roles

Community impact opportunities
Access & Structure
Conferences are one-day events. UNA-GP strives to keep participation free for high school students through sponsorships and grants.
