Our Work
The UNAGP promotes the values and goals of the United Nations through community engagement, education, and advocacy. Our programs connect local action in Philadelphia to global issues—empowering youth, fostering partnerships, and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
What We Do: Our Mission and Impact
-
UNA-GP organizes educational and outreach programs around key UN International Days, including Martin Luther King Jr. Day, International Women’s Day, Earth Day, World Water Day, Peace Day, World Food Day, World Toilet Day, UN Day, and Human Rights Day. These events bring local residents together to learn, reflect, and act on issues of human rights, peace, and sustainability.

Through our internship and Penn Work-Study programs, students develop projects for high schoolers, coordinate the U.N. Café and Young Professionals discussions, and engage youth in learning about global challenges. Past educational projects include an Alternative Model U.N. Project focused on Water, Rule of Law, and Urban Farm Design, as well as Youth Building Roots, a tree-planting and greening initiative that brings Earth Day learning into schools.

“More than ever before in human history, we share a common destiny. We can master it only if we face it together. And that, my friends, is why we have the United Nations.”
