What is Peace Journalism and Why Does It Matter?
On September 25, 2025, UNAGP and Peace Day Philly co-hosted a free virtual session exploring how journalism can be a catalyst for peace—moving away from conflict-driven narratives to human-centered, constructive reporting. Attendees gained insight into how journalism can contribute to peacebuilding by offering balanced, compassionate narratives that uplift non-violent responses to conflict.
Speakers included: Vanessa Bassil, Founder and President, Media Association for Peace; David Brown, Asst. Dean for Community and Communications and Diversity Advisor at Temple University’s Klein College and Executive Director, Civic Coalition to Save Lives. The program was moderated by Lana Ulrich, Vice President of UNAGP.
